I decided early on that I wanted to record my art adventures in Florence. Many of my family members, art friends and non-art friends had expressed an interest in following my journey with me. A blog seemed the most logical way to do that. By blogging, I could connect with everyone, regardless of what social media platform they used.
As the days neared for my departure I started to get really excited, but not necessarily looking forward to the 28 hour flight over the course of 2 calendar days. It was all for naught. The trip turned out to be a breeze even with a 6 hour layover in Los Angeles before heading to Amsterdam. Of course there is a big difference between flying coach and business class. I am glad I opted to spurge for the latter. It really made a big difference.
I am a pretty seasoned traveler and I am one of those people that can immediately fall asleep as soon as I board the plane. I spent 6 years living abroad in the 80’s and then traveled extensively for 20+ years as part of my career. Since retiring, I have enjoyed travels that include outdoor adventures such as scuba diving, snow skiing and hiking.
This adventure. although it is a departure from most of my adventures, is just as thrilling and I am so excited to start it.
